Swapping shirts

-

Wishawwycombe Wanderers beat Milton Rovers in their opponents’ kit on Saturday.

After manager Alex Richardson forgot the club’s strips for the first time in 19 years the visitingwanderers had to borrow shirts from the hosts for the match.

The kit mix up did not hold thewanderers back, though, as they went on to win 1-0 thanks to an Andywatters goal.

Richardson said:“we were struggling for a team on Saturday due to holidays, working, injuries, etc, and my head must have been elsewhere, trying to get a team on the park.

“We ended up having to put three trialists on the bench, hence why for the first time in 19 years I forgot the strips.

“However, Milton are a fantastic club and Pat Griffin of their committee offered us their away kit to use.

“That was bad enough but early in the second half winger Aaron Bulloch dislocated his shoulder and had to go to hospital.

“Again Milton stepped up to the plate to help out when Josephine Paterson took Aaron to the hospital to allow the game to progress.”

Substitute Callum Richardson set up Andy Watters, who scored the only goal of the game.

But the drama did not end there, with Andy pulling his hamstring and Declan Docherty hurting his knee, forcing Wanderers to field their other two trialists.

Richardson said:“it was backs to the wall for the last 20 minutes but a resolute display led to a cracking three points.

“It’s been a decent start since we moved up to the Caledonian Premier as Division 1A Champions last year.we now sit third in the table.”
