Stand up and be counted
Motherwell manager Stephen Robinson has urged his experienced players to start turning up after another poor Fir Park display.
Only Davidturnbull and Allan Campbell were spared from his criticism but the under-fire manager challenged his more experienced players to step up and help drag the Steelmen away from the bottom end of the table.
He said:“turnbull and Campbell I thought showed a real character to try and make something happen.
“We had chances. Cadden has a great chance. Andy Rose hit the crossbar. Davidturnbull puts Curtis Main clean through one-on-one and he slices at it.
“If you don’t take the chances then you get punished.
“As the game wears on you can see that players aren’t taking responsibilty and getting on the ball, bar the two younger boys.
“As the game got nearer 90 minutes you could see the fear creeping in. People need to stand up and be counted now.”
After just one win in nine league games this season, Robinson knows the pressure is on to pick up points with managers dropping like flies across Scottish football.
He added:“you can either feel sorry for yourself or you can dig in, grit your teeth and show your character.
“I have no fear (over my job).we’ve got the club to two cup finals.we’ve got a very low budget.what I will do is stand up and be counted.”
