Ac­cused­of­mak­ing of­fen­sive re­marks

A man has ap­peared in court ac­cused of mak­ing of­fen­sive and ho­mo­pho­bic re­marks out­side a Mother­well pri­mary school.

Kieran Larkin stood in the dock at Hamil­ton Sher­iff Court last week and de­nied the charge against him re­lat­ing to an al­leged in­ci­dent in the grounds of St­theresa’s Pri­mary School in Loan­head Road on Septem­ber 25.

It is al­leged Larkin, of Cor­net Gar­dens, Mother­well, be­haved in an abu­sive man­ner likely to cause fear and alarm by re­peat­edly shouted and swore be­fore launch­ing a tirade of of­fen­sive and ho­mo­pho­bic re­marks.

It is also al­leged the 30-year-old made threats of vi­o­lence.

A fur­ther hear­ing in the case was as­signed for Jan­uary 17 next year.

Larkin is due to stand trial on Fe­bru­ary 13.

The ac­cused was granted bail with the con­di­tion he does not en­ter the pri­mary school prior to his next date in the dock.
