Accusedofm­aking offensive remarks

A man has appeared in court accused of making offensive and homophobic remarks outside a Motherwell primary school.

Kieran Larkin stood in the dock at Hamilton Sheriff Court last week and denied the charge against him relating to an alleged incident in the grounds of Sttheresa’s Primary School in Loanhead Road on September 25.

It is alleged Larkin, of Cornet Gardens, Motherwell, behaved in an abusive manner likely to cause fear and alarm by repeatedly shouted and swore before launching a tirade of offensive and homophobic remarks.

It is also alleged the 30-year-old made threats of violence.

A further hearing in the case was assigned for January 17 next year.

Larkin is due to stand trial on February 13.

The accused was granted bail with the condition he does not enter the primary school prior to his next date in the dock.
