Midwife gets your vote

Last week we reported that Wishaw Hospital midwife Maureen Mcsherry had been shortliste­d as a finalist for the Midwife Award at the Scottish Health Awards 2018. Our readers were quick to back Maureen ahead of the ceremony on November 1. Amazing! You deserve this Maureen.

You deserve it for all your hard work. Alice Ewing Our front page last Wednesday reported on a shortage of flu jabs across Wishaw. We received a number of comments from residents who have also been affected by the shortage. We have been calling the surgery for a month for the kids vaccine and it is still not in. Kirtsy Fallan My son got his letter at the end of September to make an appointmen­t for the flu nasal spray.

I contacted Dr Clarks Surgery at the start of October who seemed annoyed the letters had already been sent went they never had the nasal spray available.

I was told to phone back at the end of October.

Whilst on the phone this morning I was told it was now expected in Thewishaw Press have kicked off a fantastic new feature to find our readers’digital picture of the week.

We have teamed up with Morrisons in Kirk Road who will provide a FREE family meal for four (two adults and two children) at their cafe for every readers’digital picture of the week that we print in our newspaper.

It can be photograph, selfie or image that you or your children have taken on a digital camera, ipad, or smartphone.

We are looking for either a picture that you have taken in thewishaw area or perhaps a selfie of your family while you were on holiday at home or abroad, or November. Kay Moots I got a letter telling me to arrange it.

When I called they told me the vaccine isn’t in yet and won’t be until November! April Lees children’s drawing on an ipad.

We would also like pictures of your special occasions, such as wedding anniversar­ies, children’s birthday parties, retirement­s dos, family celebratio­ns, party pictures, club or group pictures, or any other big day or charity event.

behind Beauty Kitchen in Netherton Street is up for a national accolade at the prestigiou­s Business Women Scotland/women’s Enterprise Scotland Awards 2018. Jo Chidley told us she was aiming to make Wishaw the beauty capital of the world with the ultimate goal of bringing more jobs to the town.
