Teen to stand trial overallegedattack

A teenager will stand trial later this month accused of assaulting a man in a Craigneuk street.

Eighteen-year-old Jayden Lafferty is alleged to have repeatedly punched the man on the body inthe Broadway on August 15.

Lafferty is also accused of damaging property on the same date by jumping up and down on a vehicle that was parked in the street.

The accused, also ofthe Broadway, is also alleged to have committed three offences, which are alleged to have taken place in his home street on May 28.

The teenager allegedly resisted arrest and struggled violently with three police officers, spat on an officer and behaved in a threatening manner by shouting, swearing and acting aggressively.

At Hamilton Sheriff Court last week, the case was continued to trial, set to be held on November 20.
