Teen to stand trial over­al­lege­dat­tack

A teenager will stand trial later this month ac­cused of as­sault­ing a man in a Craigneuk street.

Eigh­teen-year-old Jay­den Laf­ferty is al­leged to have re­peat­edly punched the man on the body inthe Broad­way on Au­gust 15.

Laf­ferty is also ac­cused of dam­ag­ing prop­erty on the same date by jump­ing up and down on a ve­hi­cle that was parked in the street.

The ac­cused, also ofthe Broad­way, is also al­leged to have com­mit­ted three of­fences, which are al­leged to have taken place in his home street on May 28.

The teenager al­legedly re­sisted ar­rest and strug­gled vi­o­lently with three po­lice of­fi­cers, spat on an of­fi­cer and be­haved in a threat­en­ing man­ner by shout­ing, swear­ing and act­ing aggressively.

At Hamil­ton Sher­iff Court last week, the case was con­tin­ued to trial, set to be held on Novem­ber 20.
