In court accused of attack on teen

A man has appeared in court accused of assaulting a 13-year-old boy at a park.

David Cooper denied the assault charge against him when he appeared in the dock at Hamilton Sheriff Court last week.

It is alleged 35-year-old Cooper, of Kirk Street, Motherwell, shouted at the boy before head-butting him.

The incident is alleged to have taken place at the Duchess of Hamilton Park in Avon Street, Motherwell, on September 30.

Cooper was granted bail in the case but with a special condition that he does contact the boy.

He will return to court on December 20 for a further hearing in the case.

He is due to stand trial at Hamilton Sheriff Court on January 17.
