Man admits racism
A man has admitted shouting racist abuse at a Shotts store worker.
Phillip Donnelly made the racially offensive comments to the shop worker inside Ali’s Mini Market in Springhill Road on June 10.
During the course of the incident, Donnelly shouted, swore, issued threats of violence and made the racist remarks.
At Hamilton Sheriff Court last week, Sheriff Ray Small fined Donnelly £ 600 as a result of his actions.
This was reduced from £750 on account of his guilty plea.
In a separate incident, Donnelly also pleaded guilty to stealing a vehicle in his home street of Appin Terrace on October 19 last year.
For this offence he was sentenced to four months in prison.
