Drug and cash haul netted

-

Police swooped on a home in Shotts and arrested a man in relation to drug offences.

Officers searched an address in the town and discovered a large quantity of Class A drug cocaine, other drug paraphernalia and a large sum of cash.

The 34-year-old man was arrested and charged by officers with drug possession with intent to supply to others.

The arrest followed a police operation aimed at combating drug dealers within the local community.

Area Commander for Motherwell, Wishaw and Shotts, Chief Inspector Mark Leonard, insisted such work can only be carried out with the public’s assistance.

He said: “I am delighted with the response we have received from the public.

“Our Local Problem Solving Team have been working very hard with other officers based on intelligence we have received from concerned members of the public.

“There is a focus within the force in this area to reduce harm caused by drugs and the associated violence which surrounds it.

“We will free up resources and focus on dealing with intelligence.

“But we can only do that with the public’s help.

“Drugs are a blight on our communities and it’s a problem we are determined to tackle.”

Anyone with information regarding drug dealing in their area should contact police on 101.
