Calder­head High School par­ent coun­cil have their next meet­ing on Thursday, De­cem­ber 6, at 6pm. If you are a par­ent or guardian of a pupil, you can come along and ob­serve one of their meet­ings. The par­ent coun­cil also have a Twit­ter ac­count “@Calder­headpc” and the min­utes of meet­ings can be found on the school’s web­site. Gala day If you shop on­line, you can now do­nate to next year’s gala day by us­ing the fol­low­ing link at www. easy­fundrais­ing.org.uk/causes/ shotts­gal­a­day/. 3rd Shotts Scout Group The scout hall at 100 Ben­har Road, Shotts, is avail­able for any or­gan­i­sa­tions in the com­mu­nity to use, and re­quests to do so should be made to Mrs Mary Lees (group scout leader) on 01501 821658. EU Con­gre­ga­tional Church is open for prayer and re­flec­tion on Wed­nes­days, from 11am with a short ser­vice at 11.30am till noon. There is soup, tea and chat in the hall from noon till 1pm. Tonight there will be a man­agers’ meet­ing at 7pm. The Sun­day morn­ing ser­vice at 11.30am will be a Remembrance ser­vice, fol­lowed by a com­mu­nity event in the church hall from 12.30pm till 2pm with mu­sic, food and chat. The Sun­day evening ser­vice is at 6.30pm, and singing group meets on Tues­day nights at 7pm. Tick­ets are now on sale for the church’s Christ­mas fayre on Satur­day, Novem­ber 24. Sal­va­tion Army Corps Youth Con­nec­tion meets tonight from 6pm till 8pm. On Thursday, the tod­dlers group is at 9.30am. On Thursday evening, the prayer meet­ing is at 7pm. Fri­day Club meets at 5.45pm, fol­lowed by the Jam Club at 6.45pm. The Sun­day morn­ing meet­ing will be a Remembrance ser­vice at 10.45am at the war me­mo­rial. The hall will be open for any­one who can­not make it down to the war me­mo­rial. For those who are able to, there will be a short re­flec­tion af­ter­wards fol­lowed by a faith lunch. Bon Ac­cord Club The club are tak­ing new book­ings, so do get in touch if you would like to hold an event there. The func­tion hall is avail­able to hire for events and wed­dings. Mem­bers should be at the hall for 10.15am, to move off at 10.20am and pro­ceed to the war me­mo­rial for the ser­vice which starts at 10.45am. There­after, to Shotts EU Con­gre­ga­tional church for a ser­vice there. Tick­ets are now on sale for the Scot­tish cabaret and dance on Satur­day, Novem­ber 24, with Bobby Parks and Chris Clarke. Lodge St John 471 have their next reg­u­lar meet­ing this Fri­day, at 7.30pm in the Or­ange hall. The busi­ness of the evening will be an FC de­gree, which will be con­ferred by a joint dep­u­ta­tion from Lodge Oak no 877 and Thane of Fife no 781. Com­mu­nity coun­cil meets on the first Mon­day of the month in the com­mu­nity cen­tre in Kirk Road at 7.30pm. Mem­bers of the pub­lic are wel­come to at­tend these meet­ings. Slim­ming group has classes ev­ery Wed­nes­day at 9.30am, 5.30pm and 7.30pm in Epic Stu­dios, Shottskirk Road (above Lad­brokes at Dyke­head Cross). It of­fers art classes for all ages. Mon­days from 6pm to 7.30pm is for eight to 11-year-olds, Tues­days from 10.30am till noon is for adults, with a class for four to seven-year-olds from 6pm to 7.30pm. On Wed­nes­days from 6pm to 7.30pm, there is a class for ages 12 and up­wards. Ad­di­tional classes can be sched­uled based on de­mand. The project’s thrift shop at 261 Sta­tion Road is open Mon­days, Tues­days, Thurs­days, and Fri­days from 10am till 3pm, and the ware­house at 100 Calder­head Road is open Mon­day to Fri­day, from 9.30am till 4pm. Calder­head Ersk­ine Church The kirk ses­sion has now ap­pointed Rev Iain Mur­doch as locum min­is­ter for Shotts Calder­head Ersk­ine Parish church of Scot­land. Do also let him know of any­one who is sick at home or in hospi­tal. Ser­vices at Calder­head Ersk­ine church are at 11am ev­ery Sun­day in Shotts, and 12.30pm in Al­lan­ton. Remembrance Day ser­vices this Sun­day will take place in Shotts at 10.45am, and in Al­lan­ton at 12.30pm. Al­lan­ton lights switch on cer­e­mony will take place in the vil­lage at 6.30pm on De­cem­ber 2. A ser­vice of lessons and car­ols is on De­cem­ber 23, at 11am in Shotts, and in Al­lan­ton at 12.30pm. Watch­night ser­vice will be held the fol­low­ing day on De­cem­ber 24, at 11.15pm in Al­lan­ton. Yoga A new yoga class will start in Shotts com­mu­nity cen­tre on Wed­nes­day, Novem­ber 7, at 6.30pm. Each class costs £7. All wel­come. Iron­works Bowl­ing Club Satur­day sees bingo and danc­ing to Wil­lie Mack, from 8.30pm till 11.30pm, door fee is only £1.50, with bingo and danc­ing to Sat­is­fac­tion the fol­low­ing week on Novem­ber 17. Jim Roy is hold­ing a pairs tour­na­ment in aid of the Bri­tish Heart Foun­da­tion on that date. This event is open to mixed teams, com­pris­ing of both male and fe­male play­ers. It cost £6 to en­ter a team in the knock out com­pe­ti­tion and any­one in­ter­ested can call Jim Roy on 07788401397, or put their name on the sheet in the club’s no­tice board. Dates to look out for, in­clude Vicky Grant on De­cem­ber 8, door fee is £1.50; New Year’s Eve party on De­cem­ber 31, with danc­ing to Sat­is­fac­tion. Start­ing from De­cem­ber an in­door car­pet bowls pro­mis­cu­ous game will run ev­ery Fri­day night, from 7.30pm till 11.30pm, to which all will be made wel­come. zens’ cen­tre at 7-9pm on Fri­days.
