GIRLS GET ACTIVE
Calderhead High recently held an Active Girls Day in the school to celebrate girls’ participation in sport.
The day started with an inspirational talk by athlete Louise Renicks who spoke to pupils about her journey and the lifestyle choices.
Louise won a gold medal in judo at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in 2014, and had been a part of the national judo squad since she was 14. She has competed at a national and international level.
Pupils then took part in many different sporting activities. Skills Scotland
S4 pupils recently attended the Skills Development Scotland’s ‘Skills Scotland’ event at the SEC in Glasgow.
Pupils had the opportunity of meeting employers, training providers, colleges, universities and professional bodies.
The visit is part of the school’s ‘ Developing the Young Workforce’ strategy and helps prepare pupils for the next phase of their education and to identify their future career pathways. House Champions
