Countdown to the big day now on

Wishaw Press - - FRONT PAGE - Lynn Love

With Christmas just five weeks away, Wishaw shoppers are already preparing for the big day.

From decorating trees to buying presents and entertaining guests, Christmas is an exciting time for many.

We took to the streets to ask if you thought it was too early to start celebrating and what you were most looking forward to about the festive period.

Christmas fanatic Denise Kelly said it’s never to early too start celebrating the big day.

Denise, pictured with one-year-old Sophia, said: “I love Christmas. I’ve been watching Christmas films since September. It’s never too early to start enjoying it.”

Amelia, said you have to start early to be prepared.

Wishaw man Jamie said: “I’ve already started Christmas shopping. I think you have to start early so you can afford everything you need to buy now. Christmas is really expensive.”

Little Amelia said she is super excited about Christmas. She said: “I can’t wait for Santa to come. I’ve asked for an LOL House.”

Newmains couple Jack and Lilian Young said Christmas is too commercialised now.

Jack added: “Christmas isn’t the same anymore. The Christmas spirit seems to have gone. It’s just all about the money now. I still like to wait to go out and buy my presents on Christmas Eve. That’s when I always buy Lilian’s and she always likes what I get her.”
