Jail for breaking bail order rules

A Motherwell man defied an order to keep away from his girlfriend then got in a shouting match with the police.

Martin Mcelroy, of Muirhousetower, was jailed for six months at Hamilton Sheriff Court.

The 36-year-old admitted breaching a bail order imposed last month by being in contact with Sharon Ferguson at his home on November 14.

Mcelroy also admitted threatening or abusive behaviour at the flat by shouting, swearing and challenging police officers to fight.
