Jail term af­ter car crashed into fence

A man is start­ing a jail term af­ter ad­mit­ting plough­ing his car into a fence on a road near New­mains.

Scott Kyle pleaded guilty to driv­ing a car with­out due care and at­ten­tion on Morn­ing­side Road on Septem­ber 17.

Dur­ing the course of the in­ci­dent, Kyle lost con­trol of the ve­hi­cle which caused it to leave the road and collide with a fence.

Kyle also ad­mit­ted driv­ing the car while he was dis­qual­i­fied and get­ting be­hind the wheel with­out in­sur­ance.

The 24-year-old com­mit­ted the of­fences while on bail.

Kyle was cleared of three other charges.

The charges he was ac­quit­ted of were fail­ing to pro­vide his name and ad­dress af­ter the ac­ci­dent, fail­ing to give the iden­tity of a driver at Mother­well Po­lice Of­fice and al­legedly pre­tend­ing to po­lice that his car had been stolen.

At Hamil­ton Sher­iff Court last week, Kyle of Quarry Street, Hamil­ton,was jailed for 80 days and fined £540.
