Jail term after car crashed into fence

-

A man is starting a jail term after admitting ploughing his car into a fence on a road near Newmains.

Scott Kyle pleaded guilty to driving a car without due care and attention on Morningside Road on September 17.

During the course of the incident, Kyle lost control of the vehicle which caused it to leave the road and collide with a fence.

Kyle also admitted driving the car while he was disqualified and getting behind the wheel without insurance.

The 24-year-old committed the offences while on bail.

Kyle was cleared of three other charges.

The charges he was acquitted of were failing to provide his name and address after the accident, failing to give the identity of a driver at Motherwell Police Office and allegedly pretending to police that his car had been stolen.

At Hamilton Sheriff Court last week, Kyle of Quarry Street, Hamilton, was jailed for 80 days and fined £540.
