Walks free despite policeman attack

A man who assaulted a police officer in woods nearwishaw has walked free from court.

William Mitchell appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court having already admitted his guilt to two charges against him.

On September 6 last year, at Ravenscraigwood, near to Roberthall Road inwishaw, Mitchell punched the officer on the body and repeatedly tried to punch him.

He also acted in an aggressive manner towards police and struggled with them as well as shouting and swearing.

A second charge that Mitchell, formerly ofwishaw but now of Isla Avenue, Newmains, tried to punch a second officer was dropped by prosecutors.

Mitchell , 41, was admonished on his latest appearance in the dock.
