At Hamilton Sheriff Court last week, Caris Devine appeared for sentencing after she admitted two charges against her relating to an incident at her home in Greenfield Drive on October 10.

Devine, 22, pleaded guilty to assaulting a man by repeatedly striking him on the head and body with a belt.

She also admitted pouring a quantity of liquid over the victim’s body.

On the same date, Devine behaved in a threatening manner likely to cause fear and alarm by shouting, swearin and acting in an aggressive manner. She then threw a number of items of clothing that belonged to the man out of a window.

A charge that Devine threw a games console, which belonged to the man, out of an upstairs window damaging it was dropped by prosecutors.

In court last week, Sheriff Alastair Macfadyen opted to put Devine on an 18-month community payback order with supervision.

She will also be required to carry out 140 hours of unpaid work.

This must be completed within the next nine months.
