The teams won the award at the prestigious Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (ROSPA) Occupational Health and Safety Awards in recognition of their approach to the prevention of accidents and ill-health.

Alison Jamieson, deputy head of linen services, said: “We are absolutely delighted that our commitment to health and safety has been recognised by ROSPA yet again.

“Working together with our colleagues in Salus we thrive on setting and achieving high standards and are committed to protecting the health and wellbeing of all our employees.

“The WOSL staff are extremely proud of this achievement.”

Collectively, the departments employ nearly 1,000 staff, delivering laundry and linen services to NHS Lanarkshire and other health boards.

The departments also cover domestic, catering, portering, transport, switchboard, helpdesk, maintenance and grounds services across NHS Lanarkshire.

“To secure gold standard at all is a considerable achievement for PSSD,” said John.

“Congratulations to all those whose hard work is underlined by this achievement. It’s a testament to the teamwork of the staff.”
