Scott wants to marry Sara

Marry Sara at Ibrox Terminally ill dad faces time battle

-

Family and friends of a terminally ill Wishaw man are rallying together to help fulfil his wish of marrying his pregnant partner.

Dad- of- four Scott Lewis was diagnosed with stomach and liver cancer and was given the devastating news that it was terminal last month.

He is now receiving palliative chemotherapy to prolong his life to enable him to make his heart wrenching dreams come true.

Rangers fan Scott, 33, is on a mission to marry his partner of 10 years Sara at Ibrox and to meet their new baby due in May next year.

North Lanarkshire Council worker Scott hopes with all his heart that the treatment he is receiving allows him enough time to do both of these things, as well as make new memories with his family.

Doctors have said the most the family can hope for is around a year.

Scott is dad to Ellie, seven, Amy, three, eight-month-old Khloe and Scott Junior, who was stillborn five years ago.

Sara, 27, said: “Scott is a brilliant dad and partner and we all love him very much. Seeing him so sick is devastating to the whole family. Everyone has been great to us and we appreciate the support from friends and family. His employers and workmates have been fantastic and supportive too.”

Since receiving his cruel diagnosis Scott has created a bucket list.

He would like to marry Sara, meet their new bundle of joy, have a family photoshoot, have his voice recorded into a teddy bear for each of his kids, write birthday cards for each of them up until their 21st birthdays, go fishing and stay in a log cabin with his brother and have a tour of Ibrox.

Family friend Linda Croker set up a Justgiving page on Sunday to help raise funds for Scott.

In less than 24 hours 30 people had donated over £700 to the family.

Sara added: “Scott would like to get married at Ibrox. He’s too ill for anything other than a service and perhaps a wedding breakfast. We really hope this can happen. But most of all he wants to be here to meet our new baby in May and make memories with our girls.”

Linda, who runs Sean’s Trust - a fundraiser which was set up after the death of her own son to help support bereaved families like Scott and Sara from stillbirth, said: “I first met the family at Christmas 2014 after they lost their son, Scott jnr, to stillbirth.

“Sean’s Trust has supported the family ever since. I’m proud to now call them friends and since we met they have had two rainbow babies. I will do all I can to help them through this very challenging time.”

She added: “The family have had a tragic few years with the loss of their son and their daughter Amy was born seriously ill. Both their father’s have died and Sara’s mum. It’s very sad and for such a young couple they have been through a lot.

“Thank you to everyone who has donated so far. We have had so many offers to help the family out.

“Thanks to those who have offered wedding, flower girls and bridesmaid dresses. We have also had a tour for six people donated for Ibrox, so that’s the first thing ticked off Scott’s bucket list.”
