A determined care home worker has picked up another award for continuing to raise standards.

Rosie Brennan, activities coordinator at Parksprings Care Home in Motherwell, won the CAPA ( Care About Physical Activity) award in October for helping residents to stay active.

Her year got even better when she was handed the Innovative Practice Award at the Scottish National Care Home Awards this month.

Delighted Rosie described her latest win as a “wee miracle”.

She said: “The ceremony was held in the Glasgow Hilton.

“The other two finalists and myself were called up on stage and never in a million years did I think I would win.

“It was a wee miracle.

“I’m so proud, so honoured and just delighted.”

Rosie was recognised for her innovative approach to improving residents’ lives, including bringing Tai Chi into the home, working with local nurseries and schools and getting funding for future projects.

She added: “I’m so happy for the home and I’d like to pass the award to all the staff, residents, families, friends and the community as we all work together and we achieved this amazing which is a wonderful achievement for everyone.

“A special thank you to my manager Jamie, Michelle my deputy and nurse Heather who came along and cheered me on.”

The win capped off a great year for Rosie.

As well as winning the CAPA award in October, she won a UKwide gong for the Most Innovative Activities Programme award at the Maria Mallaband and Countrywide Care Awards, held in Leeds.
