X Factor star Nicky’s back in the Limelight

- Leona Greenan

Former X Factor star Nicky Mcdonald is making his musical return with the release of a new single.

The Motherwell singer, who was runner-up in the tenth series of the ITV talent show, released Limelight on Friday, November 23, after taking some time out to work on his new album.

The single release will then be followed by a new album in early 2019. The 21-year-old has had a busy few months performing at huge venues, such as the SSE Hydro, and headlining a tour across the country as well as recently appearing on television’s Loose Women to talk about his comeback.

He also spent time travelling the world performing to crowds on board a cruise ship, where he honed his musical skill and ability, and spent time writing his new material.

Nicky told The Ticket: “Following on from my first album, In the Arms of an Angel, in 2014, after coming runner-up on the X Factor, I will be releasing my brand new single Limelight.

“Behind the scenes for the past few years I have self-funded and worked tirelessly to make sure I am fully happy with the new sound in a bid to ensure nothing but quality music for my fans and continued supporters.

“It has been a long hard slog, but it’s been worth every minute and I cannot wait for everyone to listen to Limelight, which is released and available to download.”

Nicky gave his fans a sneak preview of his single recently on his Twitter account, which went down a storm with them.

He added: “I’ve definitely matured and found my own direction musically.

“It’s exciting and I’m looking forward to hearing what people think about the new album.”

Limelight is available to download on all music platforms including itunes and Spotify.

Nicky is renowned for his charity work and just last week helped to raise cash for the Beatson Cancer Charity by performing a small Christmas lights switch-on at a house in Hamilton (see picture).

Good sport Nicky sang two songs out of the bedroom window of Iain Fleming’s home in Forth Terrace for the charity.

Iain spent four weeks decorating his house in thousands of festive lights to raise money for cancer care charity the Beatson.

And the dad-of-three invited the public to his home to watch the lights dazzle for the first time.
