Time for Christmas spirit

- Josh Kane

Josh Anderson is starring in Newmains’brand new Christmas message.

But he reckons United’s players need to get their point across on the park too if they’re to produce this weekend.

Newmains have teamed up with sponsors Layher and I-scaff to produce a festive advert.

The film is based on the famous Coca Cola Holidays Are Coming commercial and has been put together by local film students Barbara Hannahwilson and Elizabeth Brown.

It’s set to air for the first time on the club’s website and social media channels tomorrow evening (Thursday, December 6).

But Anderson has warned his Newmains teammates they can’t fluff their lines when they resume after two weeks off with a clash at Muirkirk on Saturday.

Anderson believes communication is key from now on and said:“the last half an hour of the game against Lanark didn’t go the way we wanted.

“In the first training session after the game we spoke about what went wrong and where we can improve.

“We implemented that in training and we’ll try to learn from our mistakes.

“All of us need to communicate a bit better. I think sometimes we’re all playing our own game individually.

“We need to be more of a team at times, especially when we are up against it.

“All of us are confident and think we should be further up the league than we are.

“It’s about putting what we’re doing in training into practice and being a bit stronger during games. Sometimes we can be a bit weak.

“I think occasionally we struggle mentally and need to believe in ourselves a bit more.

“We showed when we beat Whitlettsvictoria in the cup we can compete with better teams.

“I think the defeat to Lanark was a blip and I still think we are going in the right direction.”
