Santa makes early visit

-

Santa made a special trip to Craigneuk last week and hundreds of excited youngsters were desperate to tell him what they want for Christmas.

Craigneuk Tenants and Residents organised a Street Santa to greet the kids ahead of the big day.

Jack Anderson stepped into the role and trekked the streets on his makeshift sleigh for three hours in the freezing cold to dish out presents and words of wisdom to the excited children

Organisers had arranged Santa’s transport but they were let down at the last minute. The event was saved by local men David Bell and Thomas Young, who stepped in to offer their services.

Hundreds of children lined the streets to catch a glimpse of Father Christmas and were delighted to receive sweets and reindeer dust from him and his helpers.

Santa said: “It was a pleasure to visit The Craigneuk children during my very busy schedule.

“The children were all amazing. I can’t wait to visit them all in their own streets very soon.”

Craigneuk Tenants and Residents chairperson Christine Mcgeechan said: “It was fantastic. The children and adults loved it.

“Seeing the smiles on the children’s faces was what it was all about.

“The atmosphere was fantastic, bringing the whole community together.

“The committee helped Santa give out the sweets along with local children from Berryhill Primary, St Thomas Primary and other local schools.

“Huge thanks to everyone who volunteered and also to Santa for coming. It was truly wonderful.”
