MOTHERWELL FC Aldred takes aim at Hoops following Saints win

On loan defender targeting points at Parkhead

-

ST JOHNSTONE .......................................1 MOTHERWELL ..........................................2 Ben Ramage Motherwell defender Tom Aldred helped end one horrible record on Saturday when the Steelmen lifted all three points at Mcdiarmid Park for the first time in six years.

And now the on loan Bury star is eyeing up another as they face Celtic tonight at Parkhead looking to win in Glasgow’s east end for the first time in three years.

The powerful centre back struck after just 99 seconds to open the scoring in freezing Perth on Saturday, before Danny Johnson struck again from close range to seal all three points.

And after the game, Aldred said: “A hundred per cent we take confidence going there after the result we had against Celtic at our place.

“Every time we have played Celtic we have competed against them and we have got results.

“There’s been fine lines in the matches and it was the same a couple of midweeks ago, but we are looking forward to it and we feel we can go there and get a result.

“At the minute Celtic are the best, but we feel we can compete.

“We’ve shown that in the past and we need to show it again, but the performance will need to be better at Celtic Park.

“It’s going to be difficult facing them away from home but we feel we can get a result.”
