Woman battles thug who told her to hand over cash

A brute is beginning a lengthy jail term after trying to rob a well-known Wishaw store with a knife. A brave female shop worker struggled with Ryan Curran, who had ordered her to hand over cash at the Day ’n’ Nite store in Caledonian Road.

Curran was jailed for two years when he appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court on Friday.

He admitted attempting to rob the Caledonian Road shop while he was on bail.

Prosecutor Scott King said: “Curran grabbed her by the neck and pointed the knife at her while shouting ‘Money, money’.”
