Thief is caught

-

A woman has been put under supervision after stealing a series of items from two stores in Motherwell.

Yvonne Watson was put on a community payback order with a supervision requirement for the next nine months after she admitted her crimes.

At Hamilton Sheriff Court, Watson, of Dalziel Tower, Motherwell, pleaded guilty to a total of four charges against her.

On August 1, at the Spar store in Shields Road, Watson stole a quantity of detergent, toiletries and coffee.

The 37- year- old then went on a shoplifting spree at the Wilko Store in Brandon Parade South over the space of a few weeks.

On October 23, Watson stole a giftbag and a set of razors.

She then returned to the store on October 31 and nicked a number of candles and razors.

The final charge Watson admitted was going into the Wilko store on November 16 and stealing four vanity cases from the shop.

A charge that Watson behaved in an aggressive manner towards police officers at her home address before shouting and swearing at them was dropped by prosecutors.

The offence was also alleged to have taken place on November 16.
