Shotts start 2019 with a comfy win
Shotts followed up their enforced false start with a comfortable 2-0 victory over promotion rivals Port Glasgow.
After their first game of 2019 was postponed, Shotts finally got back on the pitch against a side who pinched a point at the death at Hannah Park earlier in the season.
A goal from Jordan Halsman and another from Danny Burns via the penalty spot secured all three points.
Shotts manager John Mckeown was delighted to“get one over”on the team with a result that keeps them in the hunt for the title after leaders Gartcairn drew withwishaw.
He said:“it was a big win over the team just behind us in the table.
“Their celebrations were a bit over the top when they drew with us at home so it was great to get one over them at their own place.
“Wishaw took a point of Gartcairn as well so they’ve done us a wee favour there.
“But there’s a long way to go and the priority remains to be in the top three by the end of the season.”
Shotts have also strengthened their side with the addition of experienced former East Kilbride striker Dougie Ryan.
