A Wishaw business with strong Shotts links have been praised for providing responsible employment in the wake of the HES collapse.
Shotts MSP Alex Neil recently visited Thomson Dairies’s factory in Shotts to find out about the company’s future plans.
And he backed them for making sure their employees livelihoods were safe after around 150 members of staff were made redundant at the HES factory in the town in January.
Mr Neil said: “Having a growing business in Shotts like this is vital, particularly following the collapse of HES and the devastating impact it has had locally.
“Thomson Dairies is a brilliant business with strong ethics. They already employ a significant number of people locally and plan to recruit more in the years to come.
“It was ver y interesting to hear about some of their ambitious plans for the future of the company.”
Residents and businesses quickly rallied around the former HES staff, providing foodbank supplies and CV and recruitment advice.
Thomson Dairies, a familyrun fairy which delivers fresh milk in reusable glass bottles throughout the central belt, hope their ongoing success will continue to help boost employment opportunities in the local area.
Director William Thomson said: “Our continued growth in the central belt area will allow us to expand and recruit for a variety of positions throughout the company, thus helping the local community and employment opportunities.
“We at Thomson Dairies are committed to providing a range of sustainable quality products to our customers, that are free range, organic and Scottish. This helps out our local farmers and partners.”
