DALZIEL ST ANDREW’S PARISH CHURCH

This Sunday, August 4, will be the final occasion this year for the summer Sunday school which meets at 11am in Dalziel St Andrew’s Parish Church.

Youngsters can enjoy lots of fun and games and stories on the topic of animals in the Bible. All children welcome.

Next week’s morning worship on Sunday, August 11, will be an all ages service to mark the end of the summer holidays.

The following Sunday, August 18, will see the return of all sections of the Sunday school and Fusion Bible class. A creche is also available in the church each week.

Morning worship on Sunday will be held at 11am and will be conducted by Rob Jones.

He will be asssted by Helen (BSL signer) and Linda (electronic note taker) who will supply help during the weekly services to those who are deaf or hard of hearing.

For those unable to attend the service there is an opportunit­y to share in worship via the online stream on the church website, www.dalzielsta­ndrews.org.uk.

A special streaming service is also available to assist the deaf with Youtube providing the opportunit­y for catch-up later, at a time that suits.

The Teambuilde­rs summer holiday club will be active until Friday, August 2.

It runs each day from 11am until 2pm and all primary aged children will be welcome to join in.

A lunch is included and no charge will be made for attendance.

Activities on offer will include fun and games and stories. On Wednesday, August 7, the sisterhood will hold their August afternoon get-together at 2pm in the church. HOULDSWORT­H BOWLING CLUB

The function room will be closed this Saturday, August 3, but the lounge will be open as normal. SOUTH WISHAW PARISH CHURCH

Today’s half hour Wednesday service at noon has been cancelled because the Holiday Club are using the premises this week.

Morning worship this Sunday is a shared service with Wishaw Old Parish Church and during the month of August these services will be held in South Wishaw Church, conducted by Rev Terry Moran and starting at 11am.

This year’s Professor Potty’s Travellers’ Tales summer holiday club continues until Friday of this week at South Wishaw Church.it will run each day from 10.30am until 12.30pm. Children in primary one up to and including primary seven are eligible to attend, admission is free. WISHAW UNITED REFORMED CHURCH

The service on Sunday, August 4, is at 11.15am in Coltness Community Centre and will be conducted by Mrs Jillian Storrie. Everyone is welcome to come along. EVENT

Motherwell Thistle AFC will host a Tournament of Hope on Saturday from 11am to 5pm at Wishaw Sports Centre. As well as eight teams playing for the trophy there will be a number of family friendly activities such as including an assault course, face painting and arts and crafts. All the money raised will be going to Chris’s House.

CHURCH Joint services with Cambusneth­an North Church will take place throughout the summer as follows: on Sundays, August 4 and 11, in Cambusneth­an Old and Morningsid­e Church.

All of the above services will start at the earlier time of 10.30am.

Entertainm­ent this week sees social dancing in the concert hall plus cash bingo on Thursday.

A cabaret and dancing plus bingo on Friday; cabaret and dancing in the concert hall plus bingo on Saturday. Snowball of £150 and treasure chest. Dancing plus bingo on Monday and Slimming World class at 7.30pm on Tuesdays.

The card making group on Wednesdays will run over the summer at a changed time of 9.30-11.30am at the Greenfield Drive centre.

All other groups have now finished for the summer and will resume in August.

Tots of Fun will be running messy play sessions in July, from 9.30-10.45am, and the last session will take place on July 30.

It costs £2 per toddler, and there will also be other activities on offer for children between the P1-P4 age group, at a cost of £1.

The Club 365 programme will continue over the summer holidays for children between the ages of P1- P7 who are entitled to free school meals.

It will run daily between 11.30am and 1.30pm; all youngsters are welcome and parents will be able to sign up their children on the day at the centre.

GALA DAY

The committee are seeking new members to join them along with their regular helpers to prepare for next year’s gala day event in the village.

Their next annual general meeting will be held in early August, to which all are welcome to attend. CLASSES

A computer basics course will give technophob­es an introducti­on into using a computer with an SQA qualificat­ion available at the end.

It runs from 9.30am to 11.30am every Tuesday at the NCT Centre.

The centre also hosts a digital inclusion class on Monday from 9.30am to 11.30am.

The course will provide informatio­n about tablets, computers, ipads, Skype, email, using a Kindle, and smart phones.

A family history group will also run at the Newmains computer suite, situated to the left of Newmains primary school. It takes place every Wednesday from 1.30pm to 3.30pm.

A computer basics course is also available in Newmains IT suite on Tuesdays from 1pm to 3pm. STRUTHERS CHURCH

Struthers Pentecosta­l Church at the Old Gospel Hall on Bonkle Road hold their meetings on Wednesday at 7.30pm.

OVERTOWN

CHURCH

The morning service in Overtown Parish Church this Sunday, August 4 is at 11am, and there will be a creche for younger children. All visitors to the church will be made most welcome. LUNCH CLUB

The lunch club serves lunches each Monday from noon until 2pm. Two courses, comprising of main course with tea/cofee or juice followed by a dessert, are provided for the cost £4.

A take away service is also available if it is required. All are welcome to come along, enjoy a nice meal, in convivial company. LINE DANCING CLASS

The line dancing class runs on Wednesdays from 12.30pm in Overtown church hall. Beginners’ and refreshers’ class starts from 12.30pm. The main class will take place from 1.15pm until 2.45pm, all ages and abilities will be made very welcome. SUMMER SCHOOL: SEASIDE ROCKS

This year’s summer club, Seaside Rocks, will continue to run each day until Friday of this week.

It will run each day in the halls of Overtown church between 10am and noon.the club will be a chance for kids to participat­e in games, crafts, group work and fun, based on some well known Bible stories, all with a seaside twist.

On the Friday evening at 6pm, there will be a barbecue for the children and their families, as well as a service in the church on the Sunday morning at 11am.

Children in primary one up to and including those in primary seven will be eligible to attend.

A ceilidh has been arranged in the village on Friday, August 16 from 7.30pm to 10.30pm. Popular musicians, Keith and Roy, will be welcomed back to entertain the crowds in Overtown church hall. A light supper will be provided, however, people are asked to bring along only nonalcohol­ic drinks. Tickets, priced £6, are now available to purchase.
