Man is tagged
A Wishaw man has been electronically tagged after stealing booze and threatening a man over the phone.
Kevin O’neill appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court this week for sentencing after being convicted of two charges against him.
O’neill, of Maxton Crescent, Coltness, stole alcohol from the Best One store in Innerleithen Drive on November 4 last year.
On February 9 this year, in Chapel Street, Cleland, O’neill then repeatedly contacted a man before shouting, swearing and making offensive remarks down the phone.
However, the 45-year-old was cleared of behaving in a threatening and abusive manner in Maxton Crescent on October 5 as well as shouting, swearing and struggling with police on February 2. O’neill was given a restriction of liberty order for 160 days meaning he must remain in his home from an allocated time.
A 17-year-old girl was in the dock alongside O’neill.
She had been convicted of assaulting a police officer in Maxton Crescent on February 2 by kicking him on the body.
However, sentence was deferred on the teen until September 5 for further reports.
At a previous hearing, the pair’s co-accused Andrew Christison, of Martin Place, Newarthill, pleaded guilty to behaving in a threatening manner in Maxton on February 2.
On that date, the 27-yearold shouted, swore, made offensive remarks, struggled with police, obstructed them and prevented them from carrying out their duties.
He was fined £300 as a result of his actions back in July.
A fourth man, 33-year-old Steven Wilson, of Maxton Crescent, had also been accused of threatening behaviour on February 2.
However, his not guilty plea was accepted by prosecutors and he walked free from court.
