“Idiots” have vandalised two rainbow benches which were erected in memory of a late Wishaw dad. Benches dedicated to Graham Fraser were placed in several locations across North Lanarkshire in a bid to help those struggling with their mental health. However, one was stolen from Bellshill Road in Forgewood while another was taken from Monklands memorial gardens.

SNP councillors say North Lanarkshire has a rat problem and more action needs to be taken to address it. A poll of the party’s councillors serving on the local authority found most wards had suffered from rat infestations in the past year with the party confirming it will put forward a motion at the next council meeting in August to record and analyse all reports of vermin sightings made to North Lanarkshire Council.
Oh my god, I didn’t know it was this bad. I’ve been asking the council to get the landlord downstairs to clear away furniture and rubbish for months. I’m surprised we haven’t seen any. I’m in central Wishaw. It gives me the heeby jeebys. Marion Steele
NLC why is this getting swept under the carpet? You are not listening to us at all. We’re telling you there is a problem, just listen to us please. Sharon Barrett

I had a mouse on my patio last week during the day and my neighbours had rats in the garden shed.
When I cleaned my shed out a few weeks back it was covered in rat droppings so they are running in Overtown as well.
