Catherine has a heart of solid gold
Catherine Boyle, 35, a mum-of-five from Newmains, was nominated for our Say It With Flowers award for her kindness and selfless community spirit by her friend and neighbour, Yvonne Spence.
After the recent heavy snow, the caring Bonkle resident and her partner collected salt to clear the pavements and streets in their neighbourhood so that the villagers were able to go out and buy essential shopping.
Yvonne said: “After all the heavy snowfall recently, Catherine and her partner Jamie went out early that morning as the grit bins in our street were all empty.
“They drove all round Newmains to try and find salt and grit.
“Then they gritted the whole street so that the neighbours could get out

“I look after my ill father and mother and because of their kindness, I was able to get down to Motherwell to get shopping for them. Catherine has a heart of gold and would do anything to help anyone out.”
And since moving to the village nearly three years ago, Yvonne has been indebted to her thoughtful friend who is always ready to reach out her hand in friendship.
Yvonne explained: “We have been living here for almost three years. From day one when we bought this house we were renovating it, and Jamie and Catherine were there to lend a hand. She is so kind and thoughtful. I know that if I needed any support she would be there to help me.”
And despite already having her hands full looking after her five children, the superstar Newmains mum is determined to help others.
