Wishaw Press

A SUPERSTAR

- JEAN WARD

A Wishaw grandmother, who helps raise her three grandchildren, has been been nominated for the Wishaw Press Say It With Flowers award by her grateful family.

Joanne Liddell, 41, pictured, a former nurse at Wishaw General, even gave up her job to look after her three grandchildren.

The selfless mum-of-two devotes her life to caring for her own children Jamie and Natasha, as well as her grandsons Harley, six, Jaylen, three and two-year-old Alfie.

Former partner Raymond told the Wishaw Press: “Joanne has been looking after her grandchildren for nearly two years now and has really helped raise them .

“She has put them through nursery and school.

“I help her on my days off and whenever I can.

“She had to give up her job which she loved to raise the boys.

“She was a nurse at Wishaw General, but she has given up a lot for the boys.

“Joanne is now a full-time mum to the boys. She is so kind-hearted and gives up everything for them. She would do anything for anybody.

“The boys were already staying with her, so she wanted to keep them together.

“She is very loving and caring towards her children Jamie and Natasha and three grandchildren and would do anything for them.”

And when Raymond told us about Joanne’s nomination, we were thrilled to help out, surprising her with this stunning floral arrangement, courtesy of our friends at Pixies Petals in Newmains.

Raymond said: “I think Joanne will be really surprised and happy to receive these flowers. She really deserves this.”

And a delighted Joanne told us: “I was actually quite surprised; it was a really lovely gesture and I would like to thank the Wishaw Press for nominating me and to Pixies Petals for the beautiful flowers.”
