Runners take road and cross country races in their stride
Law and District Amateur Athletics Club brought their cross country/ road racing season to an end recently with strong showings at events across Scotland and beyond.
On March 20, club youngsters travelled to Greenock to compete in the Young Athletes Road Races, hosted by Scottish Athletics.
Seven members took part, with under-15 star Jessica Inglis just missing out on a place on the podium in the 4k event.
The full results for Law athletes were as follows:
U13 Olivia Inglis 28th in 3k
U15 Jessica Inglis 4th in 4k
U15 Ryan Kellock 18th in 4k
U15 Daniel Simpson 64th in 4k
U17 Fiona Currie 21st in 5k
U17 Yuki Faulds 29th in 5k
U17 Ayumi Faulds 31st in 5k Meanwhile, in Clackmannanshire on the same day, Law’s senior stars were competing in the Alloa Half Marathon.
It was a first time half marathon for Moazzam Hussain and also father and son Mark and Finn Milligan. Jen Beattie achieved a massive personal best, taking 10 minutes off her time.
On March 26 it was the turn of the seniors to compete in the National Road Relays in Livingston and finishing in 38th place were team members Finn Milligan, Mark Milligan, Ross Hill, Darran Muir, Martin Kay and John O’Leary.
Meanwhile, Maddy Watson was out on the hills competing in the Birnam Hill Race over a distance of 6.6k, with an ascent of 360m. She finished in a fantastic fourth place.
Jessica Inglis was back in action when she headed to South Wales to compete in the Schools International cross country, representing Scotland at Pembery Park. She finished in 18th place over 4k, winning the silver team medal.
After a busy start to 2022, Law AAC take a quick break from competitive action to prepare for the upcoming track and field season, with their first event on April 24 at Grangemouth.
