Young dancers prepare for Royal Albert Hall date

-

A WOKINGHAM-based dance school will be taking their talents to the Royal Albert Hall later this year.

Youngsters from the Jayne A Coleman Academy of Dance will join their peers from The Creative Academy, from Slough, and 500 other young dancers to take part in the biggest national youth dance celebration, Dance Proms, at the Royal Albert Hall on November 5.

The talented students were selected from hundreds of schools from across the world when their video submissions caught the attention of the show’s panel of experts from the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) and the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD).

Hosted by Blue Peter’s Radzi Chinyanganya, the prestigious event will be supported by celebrity patrons Arlene Philips CBE, Darcey Bussell CBE, and Akram Khan MBE, and will feature a guest performance from Flawless.

The group will perform a number of dances during the event, featuring genres such as urban, neo-classical ballet and Greek fusion.

Jayne Coleman, principal, Jayne A Coleman Dance Academy said: “We are truly honoured to be dancing at the Royal Albert Hall as part of Dance Proms. It is a fabulous platform for these dancers to perform in such a beautiful and iconic venue.”

Arlene Philips, CBE, celebrity patron of Dance Proms, congratulated the school on their success: “Dance Proms is an incredible opportunity for talented, young dancers to have the rare chance to experience performing on a stage like no other. I’m looking forward to seeing both dance schools perform again, and encourage the groups to enjoy every minute of the night.”
