NELLIE KNOWS

Two done and one to go!

Last week my 16-year-old got up bright and early to meet her friends and do the dramatic envelope opening with added laughter, tears and jumping up and down.

After months of revision, years of learning and a large chunk of missed school due to illness, operation and recovery our girl got the grades she needed for her next phase of education and so it’s off to sixth form for her next week.

I don’t know where the time goes, one minute I’m teaching her how to put her shoes on, the next minute she’s teaching me to suck eggs!

Congratulations to everyone on your results and a big thanks to The Holt for getting her and countless pupils this far.

Turn of the Dodopad

September is literally around the corner, one more turn of the Dodopad and there it all is – a new month full of new schools, classrooms, birthdays and here’s hoping for an Indian Summer.

Long before we had children and Big Welsh was still playing cricket at Hurst CC we would wait until the end of the season and then head to the Greek Isles for three weeks of summer and Greek food. Not so this year but The Real Greek has opened in Reading and it’s the next best thing with delicious food, fun and vibrant surroundings and no airport!

Thermomix magic

I’ve been busy whipping up feasts in the Thermomix and have been making scones (cheese, plain and currants), ice cream, lemonade, lasagne, soups, sorbets, mash, bread and steamed duck breasts in a marmalade sauce.

It couldn’t be easier and I don’t know what I did without it.

One jug, one blade, self cleaning and much less waste and mess.

There’s a post about it on my website www. nelliepompoms.co.uk if you’d like to know more.

New Bracknell

I’m interested to see what the new Bracknell looks like, not long to go now.

I much prefer small towns and independent shops but it will be good to see how it turns out after the months of development.

Much like Wokingham.

I love Wokingham and whilst it’s not got 1,001 shops it’s a friendly little town and I can guarantee I’ll bump into plenty of people and natter away.
