Sweet Aroma of success at town centre café

-

A POPULAR sandwich bar in Wokingham town centre is ringing the changes after new management took over the reins, writes Gemma Davidson.

Former restaurateur Nathan Street has taken over the helm at Aroma, in Denmark Street, and is keen to put his own stamp on the business while remaining sympathetic to loyal customers.

Mr Street, who runs the deli with his wife Lisa, said: “We ran a restaurant down in Bournemouth for many years, but when we started to have a family, we couldn’t be dealing with the long hours and late nights a restaurant brings.

“We lived in Wokingham before and were keen to move back into the area, so when I heard that Aroma was up for sale I jumped at the chance.

“I have lots of ideas for things I’d like to try, such as takeaway hotpots and lasagnes, to serve alongside our most popular meals.

“We are very much a family business, my wife comes in to help when she can, and my daughter works for us part-time at the weekends.

“There is a real sense of community here in Wokingham, it’s really great to see. Obviously, once Denmark Street is back open we should see a lot more foot traffic, but the offices and the businesses around here have been great, they’ve all been in to say hello.

“We’re a very social business too, we’re building our online presence and we’re always looking for feedback and suggestions from customers.”
