Exiles A side given a beating by Quins

-

LONDON IRISH’S A side were thrashed 45-7 by Harlequins on Monday evening.

The second string, who lost their opener 38-19 to Gloucester last time out, came up well short again at Hazelwood.

Tim Visser, Harry

Sloan, Dino Lamb, Charlie Mulchrone, John Okafor, Cadan Murley and Calum Waters all crossed the whitewash for Quins while Ollie Hoskins scored Irish’s only try.

Despite the loss, the fixture did hand some valuable game time to recently injured Tom Fowlie and Johnny Williams as well as summer signings Lasha Lomidze and Napolioni Nalaga.

But the hosts fell behind early on when winger Sloan dotted down in the corner.

However, they quickly hit back with Hoskins powering over from close range after Jacob Atkins had kicked for touch rather than taking the three-point penalty.

This put the Exiles 7-5 ahead, but Quins stormed back to get their noses back in front midway through the first half through

Lamb, Okafor and Scotland international Visser.

And the visitors pressed home their 24-7 half-time lead to win 45-7 as Murley, Waters and Mulchrone added their names to the scoresheet.

The A side’s next fixture is at Bristol in two weeks’ time.
