That crazy little thing called love

A wry look at relationships is coming from EBOS later this month. GEMMA DAVIDSON explains

-

AWRY look at the evolution of relationships will be the subject of the next show performed by East Berkshire Operatic Society (EBOS).

I Love you, You’re Perfect, Now Change, by Joe DiPietro, is a hilarious musical charting the course of relationships in all their guises, from a first date all the way through to an older couple falling in love.

Described as a witty revue of love, the show will give all audience members a chance to relate, realising that at least one of the scenes will reflect their own life in some way.

Everything you have ever secretly thought about dating, romance, marriage, lovers, husbands, wives and in-laws, but were afraid to admit, is included in this show, showing the road to coupledom is not always the smoothest.

First we meet a ‘stud’ and a ‘babe’, trying desperately to navigate the haze of a first date while battling uncontrollable nerves, shortly followed by Melissa and

Jennifer who are found to be on awful dates, and describe the current

Single Man Drought which they are facing.

Later, a very excited Karen announces that ‘He Called Me’ to both her mother, and some very overexcited pizza delivery men.

Act 2 sees one woman take a look at the old adage ‘Always a Bridesmaid, Never a Bride’ in a hilarious revue of her many bridesmaid dresses.

A collection of individual scenes and songs, comprising 60 different characters, the production is a real showcase of the talent of the four actors who will be performing on the night.

Director Emily Burton said: “Each cast member has around 15 different characters to play and so have had to find lots of different traits to make each one individual and unique.

“This is done not only in the way they talk but how they move, as (for example) some of these characters are a lot older than the person playing them.

“The cast have worked tirelessly in making sure each scene is a different experience for the audience and the comedy timing is spot on.

“Within this show there are also some real down to earth moments that each character conveys beautifully to give a real contrast. Not only is this show relatable but the cast will have the audience laughing throughout!”

I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change is at Pinewood Theatre, in Old Wokingham Road, from Wednesday, September 27 to Saturday, September 30 at 7.45pm. Tickets are £11. To book visit www.ticketsource.co.uk/ebos or call the Box Office on 0845 450 5301.
