VOLUNTEER CORNER
Age UK Reading is a local charity providing services to older people in the greater Reading area.
Services include Lively Living Activity Club, Lunch and Tea social clubs, Happy Feet toenail cutting, Befriending and Information and Advice. They need help from more volunteers at their Friday club, which takes place in Woodley.
The role will include setting up, welcoming clients as they arrive, preparing and serving hot and cold drinks, serving meals and ensuring venue is clean and tidy when the group is finished.
Volunteers must be friendly and caring, have a flexible attitude and enjoy spending time with older people.
Wokingham has had a Sports Council for more than 40 years. The constitution aims to coordinate, promote and develop opportunities and facilites for sport in the district. They organise courses such as child protection and first aid, provide sports sponsorship to under 18s and hold an annual awards evening to celebrate sport, and sports men and women in the borough.
Committee meetings are held monthly, usually on the first Monday of every month.
The volunteer will need to attend every meeting, record the minutes, write them up and email them to the committee prior to the next meeting. The volunteer will ideally be passionate about sports and have good admin/IT skills.
No 1 Club is a social club for adults with mild learning disabilities in the Wokingham area.
The No 1 Club meets once a week at the
Sindlesham Baptist Church Hall on a Thursday evening between 7pm and 9pm.
They are looking for club helpers during that time to socialise with the members and help them with their activities at the group on a Thursday evening.
This can include helping with quizzes, cooking, music, art etc.
Volunteers will need to have a sense of humour, be enthusiastic and happy to help with people with learning disabilities.
Volunteers can help on a rota basis, so even if you are interested in helping for two Thursdays out of four, then please do contact us.
