Brace from Payne lets Finches climb table
NICK PAYNE bagged a brace as Finchampstead jumped up to fourth in Division One with a 4-0 win over Frilsham and Yattendon.
Frilsham have won just once this campaign and they did not look adding to that tally as Finches raced into a 3-0 half-time lead at the Memorial Ground.
Jason Baverstock broke the deadlock before goals from Payne and Kieran Robinson opened up a cushion.
And Payne added another after the restart to seal the win.
In the same league, Maidenhead Magpies shot to the top of the pile after thrashing HURST 6-1. Shaun Bannon netted the consolation goal from the penalty spot.
Up in the Premier Division, WOKINGHAM AND EMMBROOK RESERVES were beaten 5-0 at Cookham Dean and sit second bottom of the table.
HURST RESERVES also suffered a heavy reverse, losing 6-0 at Brimpton Athletic in Division Two.
HARCHESTER HAWKS are stuck on one win for the campaign after losing 3-1 at home to Marlow United Reserves, despite a goal from Sam Chapman.
Peter Wareing bagged a hat-trick as WOODLEY UNITED B won 4-0 at Farnham Royal Mavericks in Division Four.
Woodley remain unbeaten with Grant Oxlade also on the score-sheet.
In cup action, braces from Tom Bray and Stuart Moss helped WARGRAVE past Chalvey Sports 6-0 in the BBFA Junior Cup.
HURST are also through as Peter Jones, Paul Novell, Jesse Ryan, Steve Smith and Asher Price all scored, but WOODLEY UNITED A were beaten 2-1 by Maidenhead Town Reserves.
In the BTC Intermediate Cup, FC WOODLEY were beaten 7-2 at Braybrooke while HARCHESTER HAWKS DEVELOPMENT were given a walkover win against Newbury Reserves.
In the Reading and District Sunday league, WOODLEY UNITED were edged out 4-3 by Eldon
Celtic.
Ricky Benevento put Woodley ahead going into halftime and although Jon Norris and Matt Hayman netted late on, Eldon struck four times in a second half flurry.
