Double hat-trick joy for Sonning

JAMES MANSER and Ian Gallagher both bagged hat-tricks as Sonning kickstarte­d their campaign with a 7-1 win over Tring.

It has been a tough start in MBBO Regional 2 for Sonning, going into the game with just one win from their opening four games, but they turned on the style at Sonning Lane.

Manser and Gallagher led the charge with three goals each while Colm Hanlon also found the net.

SOUTH BERKSHIRE had an afternoon to forget, slipping off the top of the table after a 9-1 loss to Oxford Hawks 3s.

Daniel Ray scored for Berks, but it was mere consolatio­n.

SONNING 2s lost 1-0 at Phoenix and Ranelagh in Division 1 while in Division 2, goals from Jack Baveystock, Nathan Desmond and Tony Heaver earned SOUTH BERKSHIRE 2s a 3-0 win over Eastcote 3s.

Lower down the leagues, SONNING 3s and 4s both drew and the 5s picked up a win.

SOUTH BERKSHIRE 3s picked up a draw, the 4s were beaten but the Terriers were victorious on the road.

On the women’s side, SONNING claimed a point from their home clash with Wycombe Ladies, drawing 2-2 in the South Clubs’ Division 3A.

In the Trysports leagues, SOUTH BERKSHIRE stay second despite a 1-0 loss to Maidenhead Ladies 2s, while SONNING 2s fall to seventh after a 4-4 draw at leaders Amersham and Chalfont.

SOUTH BERKSHIRE 2s drew 2-2 with Phoenix and Ranelagh while SONNING 3s also drew.

SOUTH BERKS 3s were beaten but the 4s cruised past Oxford 7s with Lyndall Davitt, Dash Heaver, Yvonne Brown, Sofia Reina and Caitlin Lake all scoring.

SONNING VETERANS and 5s lost, but the 4s were victorious.
