Four wins on the trot

Redingensians Rams 33 Barnstaple 10

REDINGENSIANS made it four wins in succession after a late flurry against Barnstaple.

Rams, who now sit fourth in National League 2 South, led 14-10 at half-time thanks to a Conor Corrigan try and pulled clear after the restart with scores from Olly Foxley, Andy Berry and Olly Poole to win 33-10.

Seb Reynolds’ men picked up where they had left off in previous weeks, making a bright start as

Matt Weller broke forwards, only to be pulled back by the referee’s whistle.

A dominant Rams start was rewarded on 10 minutes when a typically powerful drive from the pack was illegally stopped, handing the hosts a penalty try.

But the visitors responded well, quickly getting some points on the board themselves as Jordan Petherbridge kicked over.

But the lead was widened midway through the half Corrigan side-stepped his marker and stretched out to dab down over the line.

However, Barnstaple were handed a reprieve when Stevie Bryant was sent to the sin-bin and they took full advantage to move back to 14-10 by the break when Hayler crossed the whitewash.

Order was restored after the restart as Redingensians scored their third try through Foxley after a good pass by Jordan Souter.

The game then turned scrappy as the visitors tried to battle back into the contest, but Rams turned on the style twice in the final 10 minutes.

Berry sealed a bonus point after a line-out drive before Poole, back from a knee injury, showed great pace to score in the corner.

Rams travel to face rock-bottom Wimbledon on Saturday (2.30pm).
