Wokingham Today

Wokingham Evening Townswomen Guild

- JULIA TREDWELL

A wonderful smell permeated the hall as our October meeting started, it was fragrances from Neil’s Yard Organics.

Our speaker told us about the history of the organisation and explained the different oils they use and ethics which this company promotes. Members then purchased early Christmas presents.

Our Autumn Buffet went well and we all enjoyed the music and singing from our entertainer Graeme Parsons, some members enjoyed dancing to his music and we all had a good singalong.

A good evening was had by all those who attended.

Our charity the Thames Valley Air Ambulance benefited from the raffle proceeds and so did the Guild.

This week the Federation ran a quiz event and six guilds put teams forward. It was an enjoyable morning and those of us who went as observers were very excited when Wokingham Evening Guild won. We have a lovely shiny cup to display for the next year.

This morning I learnt that our guild had been awarded the Ada Lovelace award for the content of our website. This is a new award and we are so pleased to have been its first winning recipient.

I enjoy updating the website with photographs and reports on what our busy guild does each month.

More importantly I hope that anyone who wants to become a Townswomen will see what sort of organisation we are and find us interesting enough to join.

New members are always welcome.

Autumn is upon us and plans for our Christmas meeting are underway. Members will be attending the Carol Service at Wells Cathedral and we are looking forward to our annual festive lunch.

Please take a look at our winning website on www.the-tg.com, then look for Wokingham Evening Townswomen’s Guild.
