School’s celebration service
CHILDREN and staff at a school in Earley have celebrated becoming part of a brand new academy trust.
In July, Earley St Peter’s CE Primary School, in Church Road, became the second borough school to join the Keys Academy Trust, a community of church schools which aim to provide excellent education, Christian values and an inclusive approach to those of the Christian faith, other faiths and no faith.
On Tuesday, the school formally celebrated becoming part of the trust, which also includes The Coombes CofE Primary School in Arborfield.
The Mayor of Earley, Cllr Michael Firmager, and the Deputy Mayor of Wokingham Borough, Cllr John Kaiser, joined headteacher Hester Wooller and representatives from the Keys Academy Trust for a service to commemorate the occasion.
Mrs Wooller said: “Today is a culmination of what has been a challenging but very rewarding journey for our school.
“We formally became part of the academy on July 1, but we were too busy sorting out all of the paperwork to have a celebration, and we are very grateful that we have the mayors, the representatives from the Keys Academy, and children from both Earley St Peter’s and The Coombes here today.”
Cllr Firmager said: “As a former pupil of Earley St Peter’s, it is an honour to be welcomed back here today to help celebrate this occasion.
“The school has changed a lot since I came here, but I am sure that it is looking forward to a very bright future under this exciting new partnership.
