Teenage girl assaulted in Woodley

-

A TEENAGE girl has been assaulted by a man who pushed her from behind and grabbed her arm.

Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses following the incident in Lysander Close at around 5.15pm on Monday.

The 13-year-old was walking along when she was pushed from behind by a man who then grabbed her arm.

A female motorist then saw the victim running from the scene and stopped her car to check that she was okay. The victim told the motorist what had happened and the motorist offered to drive her home, which the victim accepted.

The offender is described as a white man, about 5ft 8ins tall with a large build and grey hair. He was wearing a black coat and black trousers and may have been wearing a chequered shirt which was white and red.

Investigating officer Detective Inspector Christina Berenger, based at Loddon Valley police station, said: “We are in the process of carrying out an investigation into this offence, and are looking at the possibility that this could be linked to a similar incident which occurred in Sandford Park, Woodley, on the same day (see page 5).

“I am particularly keen to speak to the female motorist who drove the victim to her house, as she could have vital information about this incident.

“If you have any information which you think could help us with our investigation, I would ask that you call the Thames Valley Police nonemergency number on 101.”

Chief Inspector Sarah Grahame, deputy LPA commander for Wokingham and Bracknell, said: “I appreciate that these recent incidents will have caused concern in the community.

“At this time we are working to establish if there is a link between them, and our officers will be in the area carrying out enquiries.

“I would urge anyone with any information to please come forward and call us on 101.”
