Call to join campaign to make motorists kinder
A WOKINGHAM woman is launching a mission to get the borough’s motorists smiling again.
Ani Robson said she wants drivers to help create a ‘polite Wokingham’ by joining her campaign to increase patience among motorists frustrated by delays, road rage and the seemingly endless array of roadworks in the borough.
And she intends to start in Sindlesham, where she said that the two single-lane bridges over the River Loddon frequently cause bottlenecks, especially in bad weather.
She told The Wokingham Paper: “It should be one car one way and one car the other way - there is a right of way”.
While accepting “sometimes it’s very hard to see the other side”, she definitely feels that there’s more room for improvement.
And Ms Robson also wanted to highlight the difficulties she feels that toddlers and other pedestrians, especially the elderly, face when cars have no consideration for others.
“In winter,” she said, “drivers find it funny to splash people by going through the puddles.”
And Ms Robson added that sometimes she felt there was “a new highway code”, as people drive so much more selfishly.
Ms Robson wants her idea to be “rolled across the whole country – but let’s start with Wokingham”.
