Trust – the new currency
THERE seems to be so much going on in the world today. News channels appear to be consistently reporting negative news, many of which can be traced to incidents where trust has been betrayed or where the level of trust needed for the relationship to flourish is not present.
From relationship scandals, inappropriate conduct among politicians and celebrities to unmet voter expectations, many of the problems society as a whole faces mistrust, leading to broken relationships, crime, violence, abuse and many other negative outcomes.
For many people, getting into many types of relationships is not a problem until trust is broken. Trust, as some people say is the new currency. But what are the chances that even when we are careful, we will not have our trust betrayed?
Humans are very dynamic and are prone to change in different environments and under different circumstances. The reality is that we can only trust people to a limited extent, and even so, sometimes our trust in them may be broken.
Should we look for complete trust and stability on other humans, bearing in mind that we know how unpredictable our own feelings and behaviour can be?
Thankfully, Christians belief in a God who is completely trustworthy and in whom they can expect to have complete trust.
In Christ, Seventh Day Adventists, like other Christians, can find complete peace of mind as they lay their burdens of the world on Him and trust
Him to work all things out all things in their lives together for their good – all this in exchange for a simple decision to have a relationship with Him.
Trust is the currency that we need for peace of mind, which will contribute to our mental, emotional, physical and spiritual wellbeing.
And who better to go to than one whose trustworthiness is unwavering?
In today’s unstable world, cultivating a trusting and stable relationship with One who has never broken a promise, Jesus Christ can only be a wise decision.
