Parish church holds welcome service for Anna
THE villages of Twyford, Hurst and Ruscombe have a new vicar.
The Revd Anna Harwood, previously Associate Rector at All Saints in Wokingham, officially took up her new post at a special service held last month.
She replaces the Revd Simon Howard, who has become the chaplain of a Christian community in Devon.
St Mary’s Church in Twyford was packed to capacity to watch Anna’s induction ceremony on Wednesday, November 23, which was led by the Bishop of Reading The Right Revd Andrew Proud.
He was assisted by the Assistant Archdeacon of Berkshire the Revd Stephen Pullin and the Assistant Area Dean (and rector of St Paul’s in Wokingham), the Revd Richard Lamey.
After the ceremony Anna joined the congregation for a social gathering in Twyford’s United Reformed Church.
Born in Liverpool, she attended Bangor University graduating in Religious Studies.
Ordained in 2011 Anna had been based at All Saints in Wokingham since 2014.
After the ceremony she said: “It was a very moving service and wonderful to share it with so many friends, family, members of various churches and community representatives.
“I am looking forward to sharing in the life of the communities of Ruscombe & Twyford with Hurst.”
