Invest in the best – you

-

DECEMBER is here and what a weekend we had in the Hunt household. From start to finish it has been Christmas themed. In no particular order we put up the tree, we put up the new outdoor Christmas lights, decorated the house, bought some festive treats for everyone to enjoy, went shopping, myself and Emma went out for a birthday party and to be honest our house now resembles the famous house in National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation. (Please watch the film if you haven’t seen it.)

Only joking, it is nowhere near that good ;) So what am I trying to get at?

When you are trying to achieve something like making your house look and feel all Christmassy, you have to put some time and money into it don’t you? Things cost money and also it takes time to not only acquire the items you need but also time to then get them sorted and prepared for use.

Life, goals and opportunities are exactly the same; they involve parting with your time and your money. I believe this is a really good thing.

This week I want to talk to you about investing in yourself whether it be an investment in time, an investment in money or an investment in both. I have heavily invested in my own training and training venue / service over the last few years.

For example, I have acquired my own private facility where it is only ever me and a client, I have spent over £5,000 on courses alone in the last year, I have probably read 50 plus books in the last 12 months and I have also spent countless hours trying to make myself as mentally and physically fit as possible.

Look I’m not trying to gloat; I’m just trying to get the point across that things in life are not free so if you want to get further in some area of your life then you need to invest.

So what could I invest in then Chris?

Check out my list below and possible options that you could think about investing in. You could ask for a present or put some Christmas money towards one of the below ideas. What about even saving up in January and putting some of your hard earnt cash towards one of these?

Just for the record these are all things that I have mentioned to all my current coaching clients, group fitness members and people that I come into contact with every single day:

Sign up to a gym and commit to six months and really change your life.

Attend a live seminar by a leading expert on a topic of your choice.

Research a topic of your choice that you are interested in and buy / download the five most read books associated with that topic. Block some time each day to work your way through the books.

Sign-up to an audiobook account or podcast account and get listening.

Contact someone like me who can skyrocket your results when it comes to your body, your mind and your life.

Contact a local education provider and see what night courses or short courses are available that you could attend.

Buy an online course on Nutrition; you can never know enough about how to fuel your body.

Set yourself a tough challenge and set aside 10 hours every week in completing that challenge in the shortest time possible.

Book a holiday somewhere for next year and aim to get yourself in the best shape possible. This will take time and it will take effort but it will be worth it.

There are countless more examples but these are ideas that I know for sure will help you on your journey.

You will never go broke from Investing in yourself.

Your body will be around for much longer that those expensive trainers…invest in yourself.

The best project you will ever work on is you.

I love a bit of public accountability so I am going to tell you what I will be investing in next year.

After doing many courses and qualifications this last 12 months ranging from Nutrition to Neuro Linguistic Programming I am taking the NLP a step further and doing a psychology course.

I haven’t decided what avenue yet but I have set myself a target of making a decision by the end of January.

I can tell you one thing though…it will be focused on the human mind and will be seriously hands on.

The take home point this week is that investing in yourself is the best investment you will ever make. It will not only improve your life but it will also improve the lives of those around you. It is always worth it in the short term and the long term so go do it.

Start the process.

Look at the options.

Come up with a plan and then TAKE ACTION.

Happy Thursday and go and Invest and reap the rewards destined to come your way.
