Late goal sinks Kestrels’ cup run

WOODLEY UNITED’S run in the Berkshire Trophy Centre Senior Cup was ended by a late goal against Berks County.

In a bid to book a quarter-final showdown with Finchampst­ead, Woodley led 1-0 at half-time and scored again after the restart with Adam King and Callum Samuel-Harman on target.

But an 86th minute winner from Connor Banks sent Berks County through to the last eight.

In league action, WOKINGHAM AND EMMBROOK RESERVES produced a brilliant first half display to clinch a second straight Premier Division victory.

Toby Morgan and Matt Booth (2) scored in the opening 45 minutes against Cookham Dean and Sumas held on to win 3-2.

Nick Payne scored a hat-trick as FINCHAMPST­EAD edged past Eldon Celtic 4-3 in Division One. Luke Hanley also scored for Finches, who climb up to sixth in the table.

Oliver Bridges scored the only goal as HURST won at struggling Westwood United Reserves.

In Division Two, HURST RESERVES picked up just their second point of the season with a 3-3 draw at Woodcote Stoke Row Reserves.

Ashley Lamb and Joseph Peck scored for the visitors before a late own goal earned a share of the spoils.

FC WOODLEY stay top of the pile after a 5-1 win at HARCHESTER HAWKS while goals from John Smith and Matthew Williams earned AFC CORINTHIAN­S a 2-2 draw at Berks County Reserves.

WARGRAVE stay second in Division Three after edging past Henley Town Reserves 1-0 and HURST A are up to third after beating Highmoor Ibis Athletic thanks to goals from Dean Cherret, Richard Dow, Ryan Hawley and Luis Felipe Lema (2).

In Division Four, Samuel Paddon and Darnte Cranston bagged braces as WOODLEY UNITED B thrashed Berks County Rovers. Clayton Holloway also scored in the 5-1 rout.

A lost out 3-2 to Taplow United while goals from Russell Brown, Rhys York, Jose Ribeiro (2) and Lee Fyrth guided TWYFORD AND RUSCOMBE to yet another win.

Lewis Smith (2), Samuel Wilson, Jake Tomsett and Owen Morgan all scored as HARCHESTER HAWKS DEVELOPMEN­T beat White Eagles Reserves 5-3.

In the Sunday leagues, WOODLEY UNITED turned the tables on Richfield Rovers Reserves with a 4-3 victory.

Having lost the reverse fixture, Woodley took the honours this time thanks to goals from Danny Blatchford, Jon Norris, Loic Srodawa and Ollie Jones.
