Rams bury St Edmunds
Redingensians Rams 29 Bury St Edmunds 17
GREG ILLINGWORTH scored two tries as Redingensians got straight back on track with victory over Bury St Edmunds.
Rams’ six-game winning run was halted last weekend, but they returned to winning ways at Old Bath Road.
Redingensians produced a fine display from the off, held up just before the line in the opening 10 minutes before finding the breakthrough shortly afterwards when Conor Corrigan burst through.
And the lead was extended to
12-5 by half-time as Illingworth got his first of the afternoon when Andy Berry popped the ball off to Tom Humberstone, who spun it to the scrum-half to score under the posts.
Rams strengthened their grip of the contest when Illingworth stretched over to score just moments after Andy Amor had also crossed the whitewash.
Bury scored twice late on, but Redingensians eased to the 29-17 win.
“I thought our players demonstrated great enthusiasm and tempo right from the off,” said head coach Seb Reynolds.
“We did really well in the second half to take the game away from Bury, but with the amount of injuries they have I thought they were impressive.”
Rams stay fourth in the table and travel to fifth-placed Canterbury on Saturday.
